Our Story
Over twenty years ago three friends began homebrewing beer and mead. The craft beer market was exploding, Mississippi and Montana were finally legalizing brewpubs, and mead was largely yet unknown. But we found the simple joy of spending the day together brewing, honing and, yes, drinking our concoctions exciting and a lot of fun. We pitched in together for ingredients, and any extra cash went toward the next “new toy” to upgrade our system.
Times change, people move, but good ideas hold fast. Those who began this journey with me are still my biggest supporters. I spent many years as a professional brewer in both brewpub and craft brew settings and learned a great deal along the way while still homebrewing and focusing on mead.
Many people are still unaware of mead and its history. At its core, mead is fermented honey and water. It is potentially older than beer and wine, and every culture around the world has had a version of it. From the many varietals of honey and the addition of fruits, herbs, and spices, to its cultural traditions and mythologies, mead is as versatile as it is mysterious. And it has found a resurgence in the craft world.
I am again working with two amazing friends and would not be where I am without them. I left my professional brewing career as I could no longer delay pursuing my passion. With the savings I had and the help of my two partners (and so many others), we are now professionally producing mead!
We are Kindred Spirits.
